How the Chuun works
The optional Chuun placement exam: what it measures, how it runs, and what happens after — you can learn on miatz without it.
- Know exactly what the Chuun measures before you sit it — no surprises
- Understand that it's optional placement, not a wall: you can start learning today
- See what happens after you submit, from review to cohort placement
First, the most important fact
You don't need the Chuun to use miatz. Sign up free and start immediately — no entrance exam required. The curriculum, coding practice and daily loop open up as you do the work, level by level. The Chuun is optional: a placement exam that sets your position on the rank and scholarship ladder for a cohort seat.
What the Chuun is
Miatz Chuun (say: choon) is a timed, integrity-monitored entrance exam designed to find judgment, not memorization. It assesses:
- Reasoning — how you think through unfamiliar problems,
- Product sense — whether you notice what actually matters to users,
- Attention to detail — the trait that separates shippers from breakers,
- Technical judgment — a hands-on coding round, not syntax recall.
If you've never written production code, that's fine — the exam is built to surface aptitude, not experience.
How it runs
When you're ready, open the Chuun card on your Dashboard and start. The sitting is timed and integrity-monitored, so set aside a quiet block with a stable connection. There's nothing to cram: the best preparation is simply using miatz — the daily practice loop exercises exactly the muscles the Chuun measures.
What happens after
1. Submitted — your exam goes into review. Placement is selective, so give it a little time.
2. Cleared — congratulations: an admin places you in a cohort, and your Chuun result sets your spot on the rank and scholarship ladder.
3. Not this time — nothing closes. Your results appear in your profile, your access is unchanged, and you keep learning and leveling. The Chuun affects placement — never access.
What it costs
Nothing. The Chuun is free, like everything else for founding cohorts — no fees, no card, no strings. The only investment is a focused hour of your honest best thinking.
Frequently asked
Do I have to pass the Chuun to use miatz?
No. Sign up free and start immediately — no entrance exam required. Levels unlock as you complete work. The Chuun is an optional placement exam: it sets your spot on the rank and scholarship ladder for a cohort seat, not your access to the platform.
What does the Chuun stand for and measure?
Miatz Chuun (say: choon) is the entrance exam — timed and integrity-monitored that assesses reasoning, product sense, attention to detail and technical judgment, plus a hands-on coding round. It is not a syntax-recall quiz.
When should I take the Chuun?
Whenever you feel ready. Many learners build momentum in the free modules first, then sit the Chuun from the Dashboard card when they want cohort placement, rank and scholarship consideration.
What happens after I submit the Chuun?
Your submission goes into review — placement is selective. Clear it and an admin places you in a cohort on the rank and scholarship ladder. Either way, your results appear in your profile and your access to miatz is unchanged.
What if I don't clear the Chuun?
Nothing closes. You keep full access, keep learning and keep leveling up — the Chuun affects placement, never access. Your results stay in your profile so you know exactly where to improve.
Does the Chuun cost anything?
No. The Chuun is free, like the rest of miatz for founding cohorts — no fees, no card on file.
