Members, roles and teams
Add people, set what they can do, and organise them into teams.
- Ten roles cover everything from tenant owner to learner
- Nobody can grant a role above their own — enforced in the database
- Removing someone frees the seat without deleting the person or their credentials
Adding people
Two routes in:
1. Add by email — attaches an existing Miatz account to your organization straight away.
2. Invite — sends an invitation to someone who has no account yet, or who should confirm before joining. See Invitations.
Both consume a seat from the pool matching the member kind (employee, partner or customer).
Roles
| Role | Typically does |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything, including transferring ownership |
| Admin | Everything except removing the last owner |
| Enablement | Day-to-day operations: people, invitations, programmes |
| Manager | Their team's progress and approvals |
| Author / Reviewer | Write and approve content |
| Mentor / Proctor | Teach; supervise assessments |
| Analyst | Read-only reporting and exports |
| Learner | Learn |
Two rules hold everywhere, including for direct API calls:
- You cannot grant a role higher than your own.
- Only an Owner can create or modify another Owner.
Teams
Teams group members under a manager and can nest. A team and its manager must both belong to your organization — cross-organization references are rejected.
Removing someone
Removal is deactivation, never deletion. The seat is freed, access ends, and the person keeps their account and every credential they earned while they were with you.
Frequently asked
What roles can I assign?
Owner, Admin, Enablement, Manager, Author, Reviewer, Mentor, Proctor, Analyst and Learner. You can only assign a role at or below your own level, and only an Owner can create another Owner.
What is a member kind?
It says which population someone belongs to — employee, partner or customer — and which seat pool they draw from. Moving someone between kinds moves their seat too.
What happens when I remove someone?
The membership is deactivated and the seat is freed. The person's account, learning history and credentials are untouched — they simply no longer have access to your organization.
Can I add someone who already has a Miatz account?
Yes. Adding by email attaches an existing account to your organization. If no account matches, send an invitation instead.
